FAQ · STABLECOINS ON SOLANA

Questions, answered.

Basics

A stablecoin is a token designed to hold a steady value — almost always pegged 1:1 to the US dollar, so one coin is meant to always be worth about $1. On Solana they settle in seconds for a fraction of a cent, which makes them useful for payments, savings, and trading without the price swings of SOL or BTC.
Both target $1, but they’re run by different companies. USDC is issued by Circle, a US-regulated firm that publishes monthly attestations and holds reserves in cash and short-term US Treasuries. USDT (Tether) is the largest and most widely traded stablecoin globally, but historically less transparent about its reserves. On Solana, USDC has the deepest native liquidity; USDT is bridged and common on exchanges.

A depeg is when a stablecoin trades away from its $1 target — say $0.97 or $1.03. It usually happens during market panic or when people doubt the reserves. Most depegs are brief and recover, but they’re the main risk of holding stablecoins. We track live prices so you can spot any coin that has drifted.

On Solana

Both are Solana token standards. SPL Token is the original, used by USDC and most older coins. Token-2022 is the newer standard that adds optional features issuers can switch on: transfer fees, freeze controls, confidential transfers, and KYC hooks. Neither is automatically “better” for you as a holder — it just tells you what the token can do. Each coin page shows which standard it uses.
Solana combines instant settlement, sub-cent fees, and global reach with regulatory-friendly Token Extensions — built-in KYC/AML hooks, freeze controls, and transfer restrictions designed for compliant digital currencies.

Using stablecoins

You buy them through an on-ramp — a service that converts your bank balance or card into stablecoins on Solana, and back out again. We track the ramps that support Solana, with the coins and regions each one covers.

A growing number of debit and credit cards let you spend stablecoins directly at any merchant, settling on Solana behind the scenes. We list the cards that work with Solana stablecoins and what each supports.

Stablecoins can earn yield through lending protocols, savings products, and neobank-style apps. Rates and risk vary widely, so check what backs each one before depositing. We track live yields across Solana.

Safety & data

Safety depends mostly on the issuer, not the blockchain. Reputable, fully-backed, audited stablecoins (like USDC and PYUSD) carry low risk; algorithmic or thinly-backed ones carry more. Your main practical risks are choosing a weak issuer, bugs in the apps you use, and losing your keys. The chain itself just moves the tokens.
Solana carries well over $10B in stablecoin supply with hundreds of billions of dollars in monthly transfers, at a median transaction fee of about $0.0013. The live total across every coin we track is at the top of this page.
Supply, holders, USD prices, and yields refresh every 15 minutes from Solana RPC (Helius), Jupiter v2 Search, and Jupiter Lend.
